Programme Information

Welcome to STA First Aid: Management of Life-threatening Bleeding CPD online training programme. This CPD is aimed at STA First Aid / Lifesaving Tutors. It aims to provide tutors with the knowledge to teach and assess the management of life-threatening bleeding, including wound packing and tourniquets, on STA first aid courses.

This programme covers:

• First aid skills
• The cardiovascular system
• Primary survey
• Wounds and bleeding
• Life-threatening bleeding
• Haemostatic agents
• Tourniquets
• Penetrating chest injury / collapsed lung
• Internal bleeding
• Shock

Assessment Information

This online programme will take approximately 4 hours and upon successful completion, 1 CPD point will be awarded. The programme does not expire; however, it is recommended learners revisit the programme as often as necessary to keep knowledge up to date, as well as undergo additional site-specific training to maintain competency.

There will be a final assessment at the end of the programme to complete with a pass mark of 23 / 31. A certificate of completion will be available to download following successful completion of this programme.
