This online programme aims to provide learners with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to fulfil the role of a competent person under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations.
A COSHH competent person is someone who has the knowledge, training, experience, and authority to identify, assess, and help control risks from hazardous substances under the UK's Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH).
Learners will
Understand legislation and regulation relating to COSHH
Know how to conduct a COSHH assessment
Be able to identify hazardous substances
Interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
Understand routes of exposure
Implement suitable control measures using the hierarchy of control.
The course also covers the selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe chemical handling and storage practices, monitoring employee exposure, health surveillance requirements, and first aid and emergency procedures relating to hazardous substances.
This course is suitable for premise managers, employees or anyone who is likely to come into contact with hazardous substances.

Validity of Programme - This programme should be revalidated every 3 years
Length of Programme - Approximately 4 hours.
Assessment Information
There will be a final assessment at the end of the programme to complete with a pass mark of 7 / 10.
A certificate of completion will be available to download following successful completion of this programme.
