Introducing STA's new Junior Medic Programme, the comprehensive first aid and resuscitation training course for young learners aged from 8 years of age.

Teaching children essential skills to save lives the Junior Medic programme consists of four exciting awards focusing on

Junior Medic First Aid:

  • Contacting the emergency services
  • Contents of the first aid kit
  • Primary survey
  • Health and hygiene
  • Bleeding
  • Burns
  • Shock
  • Broken bones
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Epilepsy
  • Diabetes
  • Heart attack
  • Hypothermia and Heat exhaustion.

Junior Medic Resus:

  • Managing an unconscious non-breathing casualty
  • Managing an unconscious breathing casualty
  • Turning a casualty from front to back
  • Placing a casualty in the recovery position.

In addition to the Junior Medic Series groups and organisations who do not have access to a swimming pool are also able to undertake the Communications Skills Series, a series comprising of two awards introducing children to hand signals used in both open water and pool environments, emergency call protocol, the phonetic alphabet and two way radio messaging conventions.

You MUST hold an in date 'Emergency First Aid at Work', 'First Aid at Work' or 'Pool Lifeguard' qualification to deliver the Junior Medic Series.
